A World at War (James 4.1-3)

Speaker: Derrick Leitão
Series: James
Sermon Info:
We have read so far that our tongues are set on fire by hell and that worldly wisdom is demonic. So, where does the quarreling and fighting begin? Can we blame it all on the devil? Or does it come from each individual’s desires and grows up into conflict? What is the solution to the conflict that exists within us all?

Wisdom Produces Peace (James 3.13-18)

Speaker: Derrick Leitão
Series: James
Sermon Info:
In a time of unrest and widespread rebellion, where is our peace? Is it in the world? Where is the wisdom that can help to guide us toward peace? Is it from the world? We can see that is not helping. So, the answer to these questions is the answer the church ought to seek when the unrest ‘out there’ peeks its head in ‘here.’

Visible Faith (James 2.14-26)

Speaker: Derrick Leitão
Series: James
Sermon Info:
One of the great accomplishments of the Reformation was the recovery of the doctrine of justification by faith alone. Faith is the means or vehicle of our justification and our justification is based on what Christ has done on our behalf. But what does James mean when he says that we are also justified by works? Does he mean that we are saved by what we do? Or is he speaking of our temporal experience as our faith becomes visible?
