Doctrine and knowledge are important. But it cannot be alone. There must be faith. Doctrine identifies who we have placed our faith in. Doctrine identifies the source of our faith. Faith and knowledge cannot be separated as the Holy Spirit works in us. In our text, there is a grave misunderstanding and it is rooted in unbelief. They were not believing in the one true God and it led to the “unforgivable sin.”

At this point in the gospel of St. Mark, Jesus is still at war with disease and the demonic forces that seek to defeat him and his mission. Though they try hard to distract him, our Lord will accomplish what he came to accomplish and establish his Kingdom. The Apostles are chosen which would lay the foundation of the rest of the house (the Church). Praise the Lord for his faithfulness!

A Day for Man (Mark 2.23-3.6)

There is much confusion over the Fourth Commandment. It has the longest explanation yet we often ask what is the Sabbath day all about? We are called to keep it holy and spend our day worshipping God. But what is permissible and what is considered to be “work” has often caused disagreement. Jesus helps us to understand what the Sabbath is for and what it is not for.
